Steel is up 66% less expensive than copper, making it a popular choice for standard roofing applications. While copper does have the longest projected lifespan of all metal roofing types, the longevity of steel is still respectable. Most homeowners can expect a steel roof to last as long as 60 years.
Additionally, steel is one of the most durable metals used in roofing projects. So, while it may not last quite as long as copper, it is also less likely to be damaged during a storm or as the result of falling debris.
